Guadalupe Rodriguez, known as Doña Lupe, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family in Watsonville, on September 4th, 2024. She was 92 years old.
She was born on January 11th, 1932, to proud parents Martin Candelario and Maria Castillo, in Atoyac, Jalisco, Mexico. In 1967, she immigrated to the United States where she settled in Watsonville, lived here for 57 years, and worked in agriculture.
She was a faithful Catholic who prayed daily. She shared with her family her love of God, Jesus Christ, and the Virgen Maria de Guadalupe. She enjoyed planting and tending her vegetable garden. But most of all, she loved being with her family. Guadalupe was a loving mother and grandmother, and she will be greatly missed by all who loved her.
Guadalupe is survived by her children, sons Tino, Armando, and Felipe Rodriguez, and her daughters, Porifiria Rodriguez and Patricia Vega. She also leaves behind 29 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved son Gerardo Rodriguez, and her siblings, Jesus, Jose, and Luz Candelario.
A viewing will be held at Mehl's Colonial Chapel – 222 E. Lake Avenue, on Sunday, September 22, 2024, 5pm-9pm, with a rosary starting at 7pm. Funeral mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of The Assumption Catholic Church – 100 Salinas Road, on Monday, September 23, 2024.
