Dona Gail Moran Umble, 80, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, passed away peacefully on November 21, 2025 at her home in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She was born May 29, 1945, in Ardmore, Oklahoma, to the late Ray O Moran and Willie Lee Moran.
Dona held a master’s degree in education and spent a brief time as an educator. She retired to Coleman, Oklahoma in 1996 to run her father’s ranch. She was a lover of animals and loved caring for the cattle on the ranch. Into her late 50s and 60s, it was not uncommon to see her caring for new born calves. If a calf escaped, she was known to jump a barbed fence, wrestle the calf to the ground, throw it over her shoulders around her neck, and carry it to the truck. Dona moved to Albuquerque in September of 2024 to be close to her children and grandchildren.
Dona is preceded in death by her loving parents Ray O Moran and Willie Lee Moran, and her brother Ray Moran.
Dona is survived by her beloved dog, Pip, her husband of 27 years, John Umble, her sister Margie Lanning, her daughter Shelly Goodman and Spouse Bert Goodman and their daughter Magdalena Baca, her son William Kevin Carpenter and partner Cindy, Kevin’s son Drake Carpenter and his partner Katie and their son Rowan, and Kevin’s daughter Kaylin Carpenter.
In honor of Dona's life, a private family gathering will be held at a later date. May she rest in loving peace.
