Donald Gene Ballenger, 81, of Marion, passed away at 1:12 pm on Monday, July 14, 2025, in his home. He was born in Hartford City, Indiana, on Wednesday, March 22, 1944, to John D. Ballenger and Pauline F. (Bennett) Chick.
A proud graduate of Roll High School, Class of 1961, Donald went on to serve his country honorably in the United States Navy. He later dedicated 36 years of hard work to Dana Corporation before retiring. Donald was a proud member of AmVets and a devoted fan of IU basketball and Colts football.
On May 10, 1994, he married the love of his life, Mary A. (Weir) Ballenger, with whom he shared many cherished years until her passing.
Donald is survived by his daughters, Lisa A. Ballenger of Huntington and Tracy L. Ballenger of Fairmount; step-daughters, Erin Beals and Alexis (Beals) Stone; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Michael Ballenger; and sister, Maxine Miller.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary Ballenger; parents; brothers, Robert Chapman, John W. Ballenger, Richard A. Ballenger, and Samuel E. Ballenger; and sister, Paula S. Monroe.
The family will host a Celebration of Life from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at Girl Scout House, 625 N. Mill St., Hartford City, IN 47348.
Arrangements are entrusted to Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
