Donald Bison Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Rhone Funeral Home on Nov. 16, 2024.
Donald Laverne Bison, age 89, of Palestine, Texas, passed away peacefully on Friday, the 15th day of November 2024. Mr. Bison was born in Flournoy, Louisiana, on the 11th day of March 1935 to parents Walter Bison, Sr. and Ethel Laverne Henson. Mr. Bison proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy, a period of his life that shaped much of his character. After his service, he embarked on a successful career in the hotel industry, where his charm and savvy business acumen left a lasting mark.
Retirement did not slow Mr. Bison down; instead, it gave him more time to pursue the simple pleasures he loved so much. He could often be found with a fishing rod in hand, reveling in the peace and excitement that came with the catch of the day. On days not spent by the water, he enjoyed the camaraderie and strategy of baseball and football, watching games on TV with an enthusiasm that was infectious.
Above all, Mr. Bison cherished his family, and his love for them was the cornerstone of his life. His passing is a loss to all who knew him. Mr. Bison's memory of warmth and love will stay alive for generations to come in the hearts of his family. He leaves behind his children, Donna Bison Snead, Stewart Bison, Cheryl Bison Bryant, Stephen Bison, and Mark Bison, and his sisters, Patsy Bison Stockman, and Linda Bison Daspit. The love Mr. Bison had for his thirteen grandchildren, and fourteen great-grandchildren, will always be felt and never forgotten.
He is preceded in death by his parents Walter and Ethel Bison, son Don William Bison, and his brothers, Walter Bison, Jr., and Kenneth Bison.
Mr. Bison will be cremated, and his ashes will be interred at a later date.
