Donald R. Bowden, affectionately known as “D.R.”, passed away peacefully on October 13, 2025, at the age of 72. Born on March 13, 1953, in Titus, Alabama, D.R. lived a life marked by service, strength, and devotion to family. A proud patriot, D.R. served his country with honor as a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army National Guard and later retired from the Army Corps of Engineers. His dedication to duty was matched only by his love for the outdoors—especially fishing—and his fascination with heavy equipment, which brought him joy and purpose throughout his life.

D.R. was a beloved father to Missy (Vanuel), Jeremy (Crystal), and Jordan; and stepfather to Katie, Travis, and Ian. He was a grandfather to Taylor, Madison (Troy), Morgan, Kylie and aproud great-grandfather to Olivia, Trenton, Alexa, Gemiri, Trey, and Xavier. He is also survived by his siblings: Dan (Ruth), Sam (Ruby), Billy (Pam), Bobby (Tracey), Kenny (Caroline), and Mary (Wayne). He was preceded in death by his parents David and Rilla; and wife, Stephanie.

D.R.’s legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the family he loved, and the values he upheld. His strength, preference for a no-shoes-lifestyle, friendship, and love will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

A memorial service for D.R will be arranged at a future date in Alabama.
