Donald Lamar Brosius, 88, of New Braunfels, TX, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on November 14, 1936, in Trevorton, Pennsylvania, Don lived a full and meaningful life marked by service, family, and faith. After proudly serving his country in the United States Navy, Don went on to enjoy a long and successful career as an electrical engineer with the Federal Aviation Administration, from which he retired with distinction.
Don had a lifelong love for the outdoors, spending countless happy hours gardening, fishing, hiking, and woodworking. He was also a talented cook who loved preparing meals for gatherings with family and friends. A man of quiet strength and deep faith, Don dedicated much of his time to volunteering – eleven years with Hope Hospice Thrift Store and with his church community.
Above all else, Don cherished his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Nancy Brosius, whom he married on January 4, 1992; his children, Helen Allen (Clarence), Denise Ferrari (Edward), Henry Brosius (Rita), Angela Jacoby (Arthur); his daughter-in-law Elizabeth Brosius, wife of his late son, Matthew; and his stepdaughter Jenny Lannom (Gerry), and stepdaughter-in-law, Sandi Tubbs, wife of his late stepson, John and sister, Marjorie O'Neill.
Don was also blessed with numerous grandchildren, step-grandchildren, great- grandchildren, and step-great-grandchildren, each of whom brought him immense joy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd A. Brosius and Maudie M. Klinger; Caroline Brosius, the mother of his children; his sons Matthew Brosius and infant Donald Brosius, Jr., his stepson John Tubbs; and his siblings Merlin Brosius, Junior Brosius, Arlene Snyder, and Deanna Kessler.
Burial with military honors will be held at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery on September 5, 2025. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at First Protestant Church of New Braunfels.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Protestant Church of New Braunfels (https://firstprotestant.com/ ), Tunnel to Towers Foundation (https://t2t.org/), World Central Kitchen (https://wck.org ), or the charity of your choice. Don's kindness, humor, and devotion to his family and faith will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
