Donald passed away on Friday, May 17, 2024 at his home surrounded by his family at the age of 95. The son of the late Everett and Lillian (Johnson) Buchanan was born November, 15, 1928 in Bay City, Michigan. Donald was a Mason and enjoyed woodworking, sailing, playing multiple musical instruments and was the leader of the Don Buchanan Dance Band for many years.
Donald is survived by five sons; Dr. Rick (Cecilia) Buchanan, Randy (Sharon) Buchanan, Ron (Bev) Buchanan, Robert (Mary) Buchanan and Rodney Buchanan; grandchildren; Melanie (Kevin) Mays, Marcy (Nick) Chambers, Adam Buchanan, Ben Buchanan, Kelly (Rich) Garcia, Bethany (Jeff) Werner, Aaron (Kristen) Buchanan, Matthew (Kim) Buchanan, Ashley Connally and her significant other, AJ Sickelbaugh, Jay (Ashley) Buchanan, Kevin (Rachel) Buchanan, Paul Buchanan and Delaney Buchanan and her significant other, DeAnte Milton; eighteen great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; one brother, Keith (Joyce) Buchanan; sister-in-law, Bonnie Flores; special niece, Esther Flores and many other nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, June Buchanan and his sister-in-law, Nancy Wahlfeldt.
Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 22, 2024 at Westminster Presbyterian Church. Private interment will take place at Floral Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Gephart Funeral Home and on Wednesday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to John Glenn High School.
