Christopher Brashaw Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Rivertown Funeral Chapel (Ramsay FH Group) on Jan. 22, 2026.
Christopher "Chris" A. Brashaw
Bay City, Michigan
Christopher "Chris" A. Brashaw, a cherished soul known for his loving nature and a creative spirit passed away peacefully at his home on January 21, 2026, at the age of 47. Born on July 1, 1978, in Bay City, Michigan, to proud parents Gregory and Camille (Kleman) Brashaw, Chris was a beacon of light and joy to all who knew him.
Chris, affectionately called by those close to him, graduated from John Glenn High School and furthered his education by attending college classes that would pave the way for his future. He began his professional journey at Johnson Controls, where he dedicated his skills as a dispatch controller, a role in which he excelled and was highly respected by his colleagues.
Family was the cornerstone of Chris's life. He was a devoted father to his son, Brandon (Andrea) Lumsden, and a loving partner to his fiancée, Lori Lumsden, also his father Gregory & Deborah Brashaw. His world was brightened by the laughter and love of his grandchildren, Samantha "Sam" and William "Willie" Lumsden, whose 5 am wakeups he cherished more than anything. Chris's bond with his family extended to his siblings, Cory and Brandon Brashaw, and his nephew, Ethan J. Brashaw, all of whom he held dear to his heart. He was preceded in death by his mother Camille Brashaw in October of 2020.
Chris's interests were a reflection of his personality. An artist at heart, he found solace and expression in drawing, often capturing the essence of his family and the special moments they shared. His talent for woodworking was evident in the Grinch Trees he lovingly crafted for his loved ones, each piece a testament to his attention to detail and his generous spirit. Fishing was another of Chris's passions, providing him with a peaceful escape and time to reflect on the beauty of nature.
Those who had the privilege of knowing Chris will remember him as a man of many virtues. His loving nature made him a pillar of strength and support for his family and friends. His creativity was not just evident in his artwork and woodworking but in his approach to life's challenges, always finding unique solutions and perspectives. Chris's wisdom was sought after by many, as he had a way of offering guidance that was both thoughtful and practical.

So very sorry for the loss of Chris with thoughts and prayers to the his family. To Lori, Brandon, girlfriend and grandkids. We kept in touch through text about what was going on in our lives. He was always encouraging to me when we worked at AAA and at the loss of my husband Ed, and after AAA closed. I will miss our texts. I know he is now with his mom who he missed very much. My thoughts are with everyone who knew and loved Chris.
