Donald Burich Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Williamson - White Funeral Home and Cremation Services - Amery on Apr. 3, 2025.
Donald "Don" Burich, 89, of Amery, WI passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 23, 2025 with family by his side in Mission, Texas.
Don was born on March 21, 1936, at their farm home east of Cadott, Wisconsin. He was the son of Emil and Doris (Harrel) Burich and attended school in Cadott. Growing up on the farm alongside his two brothers, Eugene and Kenneth, and one sister, Darlene, he developed a strong work ethic and a deep appreciation for family.
In 1956, he married Donna Mae Zimmerman from Stanley, Wisconsin. Together, they created a loving home in Cadott, where they raised three wonderful children: Rick, Judy, and Diane.
Don worked at Arthur Dairy for 12 years, beginning as a milk truck driver and later transitioning to cheese making. He spent over 30 years with the Chippewa County Highway Department, showcasing his resilience through treacherous storms, sharing tales with a laugh that reflected his strength and determination. Pride in a job well done was very important to him.
He found joy in hunting and fishing, and he was remarkably skilled at fixing power tools. Many contractors relied on his expertise, as he was adept at diagnosing problems and crafting creative solutions.
Don found new love when he met Linda Medenwald at a polka dance, and they married on June 21, 2004. During Catholic marriage classes, they humorously shared insights from their combined 88 years of marital experience, reflecting their deep bond. Together, they danced their way through life with joy and love.
A master of dice games, Don enjoyed competing with Linda and his friends, highlighting his playful spirit. He was a dedicated fly tier, generously sharing his creations with friends, and an expert hunter who enjoyed watching deer from his kitchen table.
Embracing life with enthusiasm, Don traveled, spent winters in Texas, met new people, and experienced new things-all while loving Linda and all of his family. He was a man of unwavering faith, attending church every Sunday.
He is survived by his wife, Linda (Medenwald); his son, Rick, and Teresa (Peloquin); daughters, Judy and Tom (Kohls) and Diane and Greg (Samplawski); grandchildren, Stacy, Jesse, Shannon, and Chris; great-grandchildren, William, Tyler, Carter, Abby, Caitlin, Emily, and Chelsea; as well as Linda's children, Jerry and Lisa (Valente), John and Ingrid (Peterson), Randy Medenwald, and Sue Holter, along with their families.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, Emil and Doris; his brothers, Eugene and Kenneth; his sister, Darlene; his wife, Donna; his granddaughter, Amber Reynolds; and his brother-in-law, Raymond Zimmerman.
Services will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Amery, Wisconsin, on April 12, 2025. The visitation will begin at 9:30 AM, followed by the service at 10:30 AM and lunch thereafter. Burial will take place at Cadott Catholic Cemetery in Cadott, Wisconsin, at 2:00 PM.
