Donald R. "Duck" Buttrom
Wednesday, May 14, 1941 – Wednesday, July 24, 2024
Donald R. "Duck" Buttrom, 83, of Byron, Georgia, passed away on July 24, 2024, at Pine Pointe Hospice in Macon, Georgia. Born on May 14, 1941, in Lumber City, Georgia, he was the son of the late William Albert Buttrom and Lois Ray Buttrom.
Duck proudly served in the Air Force Reserves for six years, dedicating himself to the defense sector. He retired from a substantial 38-year career at Robins Air Force Base in 1998. His commitment to both his country and his work reflected his strong values and work ethic.
An outdoorsman at heart, he was passionate about bird and deer hunting, fishing, and farming. He found peace in nature and enjoyed attending gospel music concerts, family reunions, and delving into genealogy. His love for reading the Bible was a testament to his faith and grounding in spiritual life.
Duck is survived by his daughters; Tonya Richmond of Lumber City, Lynn Howard (Mike) of Byron and Laura Hammond (Philip) of Byron; his son, Eric Buttrom (LeAnn) of Fort Valley; and his cherished grandchildren, Andrew & Abbey Hammond, Christa & Ethan Howard, Ethan Mills, Annaley Buttrom, and CallieJo Buttrom. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Glenda Silver Buttrom; brother, William Buttrom; sisters, Audrey Smith and Jeanette Steadham.
The family will receive friends at Lowes Funeral Home in McRae-Helena, Georgia, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Saturday, July 27, 2024. Funeral services will be held at Lowes Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, July 28, 2024, at 2:00 PM, followed by interment at Telfair Memorial Gardens. Rev.
