Donald Meloy Clarke, 69, passed away at home in Lexington, Kentucky on Tuesday, November 4, 2025. He was born on May 13, 1956, in Maysville, Kentucky to the late William Rees Clarke, Sr. and Betty Jean Meloy Clarke of May's Lick, Kentucky.
Don was raised in May's Lick, where he liked connecting with people in his community. He also enjoyed listening to music and chatting on the phone. He especially enjoyed collecting radios.
Preceding him in death are his parents, William Rees Clarke, Sr. and Betty Jean Clarke; his brother William Rees Clarke Jr.; uncle, Charles Allen Clarke and his two aunts, Lenora Chason and Maude Guess.
Survivors include his niece, Cameron (Brian) Nurick of Lexington; nephew, William Rees Clarke III of Maysville; two great nephews, Parker Clarke Nurick and Chase William Nurick; sister-in-law, Victoria "Vicki" Clevenger Clarke of Maysville. Don also leaves behind his close friend, Keith Browning, whom he first met in 1998. For the past fifteen years, Keith has helped him with a range of needs, including attending medical appointments, managing finances, and ensuring he had nutritious meals. The Clarke family cannot fully express their deep gratitude for Keith and the compassion and loyalty he has shown Don throughout the years.
A memorial visitation will be held to honor and celebrate Don's life on Saturday, November 22, 2025 from 1-2:00 p.m. at Palmer Funeral Home in May's Lick. Honorary pallbearers are David Cook, Terry Layman, Gary Goforth, and Chris Thacker.
