Donald Feardnand Cloman, Sr., was born February 15, 1953, to the late Douglas E. Cloman, Sr., and Emma Marie Davis Cloman. "Ducky," as he was well-known, accepted Christ as a young child. He was the second of four children born to his parents. He attended the San Antonio public schools via Grant Elementary, Dunbar Junior High, and Phyllis Wheatley High School, which he lettered into the W Club membership there. With the closing of Wheatley, he completed his senior year and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School. Ducky attended Arkansas AM&N University, currently named The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, on a football scholarship. After leaving college, he returned home, married; Mary Helen Navarro and began his career pathway. Of this union, two children were born: Donald, Jr., (Donnie) and Courtney. Ducky was an all-around athlete playing football, basketball, and baseball, beginning as a young child with the Westside Citizen Club Youth Program and continuing through college. He also played in a minor league San Antonio team at Pittman Park, alongside his father. Besides being an avid Dallas Cowboys fan, Ducky loved to hunt and fish with his dad, brothers, and children. Ducky worked as a long-haul and a short-haul truck driver for 43 years. While working for several truck companies in his career, he also served as a dispatcher and Teamsters Union Local 657 Job Stewart with Roadway, now known as YRC Freight. Ducky was the guy that never met a stranger and people would know and recognize him no matter where he went. He enjoyed life and had a disarming personality where others wanted to be around him. He retired from YRC with high commendations. As a child, Ducky joined West End Baptist Church under the pastorate of Rev. J.A. Kemple. He was a parishioner of both Galilee Baptist and Mt. Zion Baptist Churches as an early church attendee.
Ducky was preceded in death by his father, Douglas E. Cloman, Sr.; his brother, Douglas Cloman, Jr., (Duna); and his nephew, Cameron Shaw. Ducky is survived by his son, Donald, Jr, "Donnie"; his grandson, Devlan Harris; his daughter, Courtney; two grandsons, Johnathan Andrew and Jaylen Matthew; his mother, Emma M. Cloman; his sister, Octavia Brown; his brother and sister-in-law, Derick and Diane Cloman; his niece and nephew Lyndsey and Shane Hunter; his sister-in-law, Rita Cloman; and a host of cousins and friends. Special recognition is also given to his longtime caregiver, Maria Mitchell.
