Donald "Duck" Comans was born on November 17, 1956, to James Comans and Lucille Hutchinson Comans in
Pittsburgh, PA. He was the youngest of four children in this union. He was preceded in death by his Father, James Comans; his Mother, Lucille Wilson Comans; his Brother, James Comans Jr; and his Sister, Barbara Comans McCloy.
Donald attended Schenley High School and went to Trade School for electrical wiring. He joined the Army and specialized in tactical wiring, becoming an expert marksman and hand grenade specialist. He used his training for tactical wiring to work as an operational specialist and chief communications officer while serving in Berlin, Germany, as an SP4 officer. His dedication and skills were recognized, and he was given awards and specific awards and honors. Upon his return from Active Duty, he worked as a supervisor for Warner Cable Services until he retired.
Donald's faith was a cornerstone of his life. He accepted Christ at a young age, was a devout Catholic Church member, and was blessed as Joseph. As an adult, he found a spiritual home at Monumental Baptist Church, where he served as the Drummer for the Male Chorus. His quiet strength and unwavering faith inspired all who knew him. Donald enjoyed hosting the annual Comans Cookout at his home to celebrate his love of faith, fellowship, and fun. He was a true Steeler fan and admired the Kansas City Chiefs.
He reconnected with his classmate, Carol, who became the love of his life in 1990. They started dating at a time when Carol was not interested in dating. It all began when Donald was visiting his aunt's house, popped out of the bushes, and started talking to Carol, asking her for her number and trying to find out what she liked to do and where she liked to go. Of course, Carol requested his number instead. A few days later, she called him, and their first date was at the car wash. Once he got her number, Donald began his pursuit by stating, "You know what time it is? It is Hubby time!" Donald clarified that enough is enough; she was the woman for him. A year after that first date, they were united in marriage.
The love shared between Donald and Carol reflects the quote, "To know true love is to know God's love." Everything about them is truly a Godly story of love. They always had a special way of showing their love for each other through cards on Valentine's Day and their anniversary, competing to see who could give the best expression of love. His last words to her were, " I Love You," a simple yet profound expression of his feelings that will forever echo in her heart.
Donald leaves to cherish his memories, his beloved wife Carol, and his sister Jacquelyn Love(Athens, GA) his godson Lamar Blanton(Texas), goddaughter, Kaylee Drain, Sister-in-laws Charlene, Marie Drain, and Crystal Drain, Brother-in-laws Kevin Drain, Sr(Wanda) Robert McCloy, and God Brother-in- law Dennis Hughes( Gwen) all of
