Donald Conlee

QUEENSBURY – Donald Conlee, formerly of Queensbury and Saratoga Springs, passed away on Tuesday evening, March 3, 2026, at the age of 97.

Born on November 17, 1928 in Cambridge, NY, he was the son of the late Thomas Joseph and Sarah Veronica (Lawson) Conlee.

Don grew up in the Easton and Greenwich area where he lived until he was 11 years old. His parents passed away early in his life and his sister, Veronica, raised him in Hudson Falls, where he attended Hudson Falls High School. Before he graduated, he enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served in the Occupation Forces in Japan. After being honorably discharged, he went back to school and received his diploma.

Don worked for 36 years at General Electric, Co in Schenectady. After retiring, he worked for Moreau Recreation Park and Queensbury Parks. These were jobs that he loved and looked forward to every day, where he striped ball fields, handed out snowshoes, and supervised activities.

He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed following basketball, baseball, football, and horseracing. He also liked checking the box scores of local high school and college athletes. Don loved people and was often found in local coffee shops and restaurants visiting with friends and strangers alike.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his siblings, Sarah Conlee Herbert, Thomas Conlee, Mary Conlee, William Conlee, Veronica Varley, and Rita Buchanan. Don is also predeceased by his partner of many years, Cecelia Shepard.

He is survived by his children, Jim Conlee (Gail Bauer) of Fishkill, NY; Kathleen Conlee (Jay Tegeder) of St. Paul, MN; Ann Sutliff of Saratoga Springs, NY; and Mary Joan Conlee (Joanne Schrader) of Ballston Spa, NY; granddaughter, Lauren Sutliff (Nick McFeeters) of Ballston Spa; and two great-grandchildren, Jack and Georgia McFeeters.

In addition, Don had a lasting 60-year friendship with Fonzi Murray.

Friends are invited to call from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, March 20, 2026 at the Carleton Funeral Home, 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls. A funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Burial with military honors will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Greenwich, NY at a later date.
