Donald A. Coombs, 76, of Little Egg Harbor, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on February 19, 2026.
Born on August 20, 1949, in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, New York, Donald carried his New York roots with him throughout his life. He later made his home in Little Egg Harbor, NJ, where he built a life centered around family, hard work, and the simple joys that meant the most to him.
Donald proudly served as a Merchant Marine and was a dedicated member of the Local 68 Union. He was a hardworking man who believed in providing for his family and took pride in every job he did.
A lifelong New Yorker at heart, he was a devoted fan of the New York Giants and the New York Yankees, rarely missing a game and always ready to cheer on his teams. He also enjoyed watching Western movies and episodes of Star Trek, appreciating the stories of adventure, loyalty, and resilience.
Donald loved working in the flower beds in his front yard, soaking up the sunshine, and taking pride in his home. He was always fixing something around the house. If it was broken, he was determined to repair it.
Above all else, his greatest joy was being “Pop-Pop.” He treasured every moment spent with his grandchildren, creating memories filled with laughter, love, and warmth.
Donald was a well-known and deeply loved man throughout the community. He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his willingness to lend a helping hand, and the steady, dependable presence he brought into the lives of those around him.
His legacy lives on in the hearts of his family and friends, who will forever carry his memory with them.
Donald was predeceased by his parents Douglas and Agnes Coombs, and wife Ellen Anne Coombs in 2003.
He is survived by his companion of 20 years Cathy Pritsch, daughters Tara Pritsch of Cedarville, NJ, Ellen-Anne Coombs of Galloway, NJ, and Shannon Longinetti (John) of Galloway, NJ. Also surviving are his beloved grandchildren Reilly, Edward, Nolan, Irelyn, Lennon, Zackary, Avery, Payson, and Colton.
