Donald A. DeCocker, 87, of Mishawaka passed away on Wednesday, December 20, 2023. Don was born in Mishawaka on October 17, 1936, to Adolph & Irene (Coppens) DeCocker. On May 18, 1957, in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mishawaka, Don married the former Cecilia Janet Arata who survives. Also surviving are his children, Dennis (Denise) DeCocker, Teresa (Bernardo) Contreras, Mike (Pamela) DeCocker, Andrew (Laura) DeCocker, Veronica (James) Huchison, Aaron (Jamie) DeCocker, Timothy (Bayliss) DeCocker and Stephanie Schmeltz-; 24 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 3 on the way. He is preceded in death by his parents and son, Kevin DeCocker.
Don retired from Dodge Reliance after 43 years of service. He had a quick wit, loved telling jokes and stories, and he looked forward to the daily newspaper "funnies"! But, by far, his greatest joy was his family! A quiet hero... he led by example and was always a good and faithful servant to his community and church.
The family will receive friends from 3 pm-7 pm on Tuesday, December 26, 2023, at Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 am, Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 220 W. 4th Street, Mishawaka with Father Chris Lapp officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Mishawaka.
