Donald E. Eichler

Donald E. Eichler, 72, of Blue Springs, Missouri peacefully passed away on September 18, 2025.
Don was born on January 7, 1953 in Independence, Missouri, the son of Robert Eichler and L. Jeannine (Crump) Barmore. He married Denise Fleming on November 14, 1987 in Oak Grove, Missouri.
Don was a police officer with the Independence Police Department from 1976 until retiring in 2007. He was one of the few Independence police officers selected to attend the Federal Bureau National Academy in 1985. Don was also a member of the FBI task force for the Jackson County area 2005-2007 working on computer crime. Don was a Military Police Officer in the Marine Corps from 1973-1976. He was a member of the United States Air Force Reserves from 1983-2005. Don met Denise through the Air Force Reserves. Don liked to play pranks on others, spending time with family, and enjoyed traveling with Denise.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, step-father Edward Barmore, brother Gary Eichler, and son Jim Eichler.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Denise, of the home; brother Kenneth (Christy) Eichler of Liberty, MO; two daughters Michele (Wayne) Yancey of Cameron, MO and Paula Rinehart, Star, ID; four grandchildren-Taylor (Dalton) Brown, Silas Yancey, Hannah Rinehart, and Hailey Rae; and three great-granddaughters Tucker Eichler, Maci Barlow, and Hadley Brown. He is also survived by his bonus daughter Alexandria Matamoros (Tavo) of Belle Plaine, KS and bonus grandchildren Noah Bradbury and Mady and Gaby Matamoros. In addition, survivors include numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
The family is so thankful for the care Don received while a resident at the Veterans Home and Comfort Care Hospice.
A Celebration of Life for Mr. Eichler will be on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at 1:00 pm at First Baptist Church of Oak Grove. The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm at the church. Military Honors to follow at 2:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Veterans Home in Cameron, MO and Comfort Care Hospice in Cameron, Missouri.
