Donald J. Gebelein

Donald J. Gebelein, 74, Stratford, passed away on Monday, December 15, 2025 at his home.
A celebration of life will be held from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm on Saturday, December 27, 2025 at Sauter/Rembs Funeral Home, Stratford. Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Town of Eau Pleine, Marathon County.
Don was born on August 4, 1951 in Marshfield to Arlo and Lucille (Patrie) Gebelein. He graduated from Marshfield Senior High. Don was united in marriage to Wanda Jo Kammerer on October 16, 1971 at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Rozellville. She passed away on January 2, 1999.
Don worked at Wisconsin Homes for 45+ years. He enjoyed playing cards, small game hunting, watching Westerns - especially Gunsmoke, and cheering on the Chicago Cubs. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and making homemade pizza for his grandkids.
He is survived by his sons, Scott (Sharon) Gebelein and Daniel Gebelein, daughter, Lori Palecek, grandchildren, Marissa (Jake) Borchardt, Dawson Gebelein (Claire Ebben), Jadyn (Trey) Taylor, Austin (fiancé Emma) Palecek, Taylor Palecek, Brandon Gebelein, and Emilee Gebelein, and great granddaughter, Harper Palecek.
He is further survived by his siblings, Kermit (Dixie) Gebelein, Klem (Delores), Ronald (Sandy) Gebelein, Ricky Gebelein, three sisters, Korene (Dennis) Hofmann, Lynn Stroetz and Lois (Norm) Graveen, sister in law, Linda Schmidtke Deppe, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son in law, Paul Palecek, and brothers, Klyde and Kalvin Gebelein, and sister in law, Patricia Vanderwyst.
