Donald Gendron Obituary

Gendron, Donald T.
COHOES - Donald T. Gendron, 87, passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at Albany Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family. He is once again reunited with his beloved wife, Lucille.
Born in Cohoes, he was a lifelong resident of the city. He was the son of the late Charles and Edna Miller Gendron. He graduated from Keveny Memorial Academy, attended college, and received several certifications in banking.
Don worked as a banker for over 50 years. For much of that time he was employed at Marine Midland Bank, but he also worked at M&T Bank, Trustco, Home & City Bank and Cohoes Savings Bank.
In his younger years, he enjoyed playing racquetball, bowling and cross-country skiing. He took great pride in his home and would often be found working around the house. He was an avid golfer and fisherman. He also loved to travel with his wife and friends, and he especially enjoyed their trips to Long Beach Island.
Don will be best remembered as a man who was loved by all. He had a dry sense of humor and a magnetic personality. He was unfailingly kind, patient and caring to all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
In addition to his parents, Don was predeceased by his wife of almost 50 years, Lucille Surprenant Gendron; by his sisters, Frances Comley and Charlotte Hume; and by his brother, Charles Gendron.
Don is survived by his loving daughters, Linda M. Kusaywa, of Cohoes, and Lisa A. (William) Walsh, of Saratoga; by his dear son and caregiver for the past 15 years, Donald C. Gendron, of Cohoes; by his adored grandchildren, Joshua and Sarah Kusaywa, and Brett and Aaron Walsh; and by his cherished great-granddaughter, Luna. He is also survived by his dear friends, Denny and Irene Glashan; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Monday, at 11:30 a.m., from the Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 105 Vliet Blvd., Cohoes, and at 12 p.m., in the Church of the Holy Trinity, Cohoes. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Waterford.
Relatives and friends may visit at the funeral home, Monday, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., prior to the Mass.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Don's memory to the Melanoma Research Foundation, www.melanoma.org

Yesterday

My deep and heartfelt condolences to the Gendron family. I worked with Don for a few years at Union National Bank which became M&T Bank, Don was such a nice man and, I greatly appreciated his help and mentoring when I was a new manager. God bless Don and his family. His reuniting with his wife must be a beautiful thing for them.

My condolences to Donny´s family as he passed. Donny and I grew up together on the Island a few homes apart. Families were great friend. He was always so upbeat with a great sense of humor
