Donald Raymond "Don" Goderwis Sr.

Donald R. Goderwis, Sr. was born November 30, 1938, in Florence, Kentucky to Lawrence A. and Marie (Gillham) Goderwis. Don was the second oldest of their three sons.
Don was a successful entrepreneur, starting his first business, Don's Garage, Inc., in July of 1961 in Elsmere, KY. He would later own and eventually sell Erlanger Motors located in Erlanger, Ky. Don retired in 1987, handing the family business over to be run by three of his sons. Don's many interests included boating, NASCAR, and other car racing. He even sponsored a car in the NASCAR Winston Cup Series in 1983 and 1984. He enjoyed spending time at his second home near Daytona, Florida and loved hosting family and friends. Don was always the life of the party, and his Florida family affectionately called him "KY Don". He was deeply loved and will be missed by his family and friends.
Don is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Larry Goderwis, Sr., Larry's wife, Ruby Goderwis, and his sister-in-law Pat Goderwis.
Don is survived by his children: Don Goderwis, Jr., Ron (Judy) Goderwis, John (Karen) Goderwis, Mark Goderwis, and David Goderwis; grandchildren: Ron (Ashley) Goderwis, Jr., Christina (Derrick) Lane; Lauren Goderwis, Tara Goderwis; William Goderwis; Austin Goderwis, Alexis Goderwis, Alyssa Goderwis, and Ashton Goderwis; fourteen great grandchildren; brother Carl Goderwis and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 9 AM - 10 AM with the Funeral Service to follow at 10 AM on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at Stith Funeral Home, 7500 US 42, Florence, KY 41042.
