Donald H. Graham, aged 95, passed peacefully on November 4, 2024, in Neptune, New Jersey. Born on November 24, 1928,
Donald was known for his sharp wit and humorous nature, often lighting up any room with his humor.
Donald proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1955, dedicating three years to his country during a pivotal time in history. After his military service, he embarked on a career as a Shipping Clerk and later a Foreman, contributing many years to Signalite, Inc., and Electronic Measurements in Neptune and Tinton Falls.
Donald attended Ridge Avenue for his primary education and graduated from Neptune Senior High School in 1948. Although he did not pursue higher education, his life experiences and career brought him substantial knowledge and fulfillment.
In his leisure time, Donald found great joy golfing at Shark River, Howell, and Cream Ridge, to name a few. He often sat on the porch listening to his favorite jazz music while completing word search puzzles. Additionally, he was an avid league bowler.
Donald was also passionate about painting, putting together 1000-piece puzzles, needlepoint, and cooking with his family.
Though a non-practicing Episcopalian, Donald deeply respected his spiritual roots and the values they imbued.
Donald is survived by his loving daughter, Dawn Graham; grandsons, Jason H. Whitley, Sr. and Daryl W. Whitley, Sr. (Lisa); great-grandchildren, Jameerah, Jason Jr., Orya, and Daryl Jr.; niece Pamela Sandifer; son-in-law, Dexter Whitley and numerous friends and family members who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Lesley Graham Whitley; parents, James T., Sr., and Martha; siblings, Sarah, Florence Sandifer, Arlene Taylor, Harold, John Wesley, Edward, Morris, Vincent, Walter, Irving, Clifford, Gordon, and James T., Jr.; and former wife, Benita Jean Graham.
Donald's life was one of vibrant engagement with his community, dedication to his family, and service to his country. His legacy of laughter and love continues to inspire all who knew him.
The viewing will be from 11 am to 1 pm, followed by a service from 1 pm to 2 pm at Ely Funeral Home in Neptune, New Jersey, on 11/10/24. The repast will occur from 3 pm to 5:30 pm at United Fire Company #1 in Neptune City, New Jersey.
I kindly invite you to join me in celebrating my beloved father's life and sharing his cherished memories.
