Donald Oliver Hagelberg, passed away on Sunday, January 12, 2025.
He was born July 17, 1947, the son of Tauno Oliver Hagelberg and Elvie E. (Muhonen) Hagelberg. Donald graduated from Oakmont Regional High School Class of 1965 and attended Worcester Industrial Technical Institute.
He leaves two sons, Scott W. Hagelberg of Westminster; Thomas R. Hagelberg & Tonya (Barrett) Hagelberg of Athol; grandchildren: Cecelia, Benjamin, Ryley, Kassidy, Tori; one brother, William A. Hagelberg & Barbara (Keenan) Hagelberg; and many nieces and nephews
He was predeceased by his parents and daughter Carrie J Hagelberg
Donald was employed by Lowe’s of Springfield and was formerly employed by Simonds Saw & Steel Company. He was an active member of the Second Baptist Church in South Hadley.
Don loved to line dance. He danced with a group “Line Dancing with Jen’ in Chicopee. Don loved animals, and always had dogs, cats, horses, and donkeys. Was the dog officer in Ashburnham for a time in the 1990s. With the help of his dad and brother built the dog pound in the Ashburnham dump.
Don was a cancer survivor, participating in the Relay for Life in Gardner
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2025th at 10:30 am at New Cemetery in Ashburnham followed by a Celebration of Life at the Otter River Sportsman's Club in Templeton.
Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Road, Fitchburg, MA is directing arrangements.
