Donald Hails

1932 - 2025

Donald Hails, 92, of Latrobe, passed away on Monday, May 26, 2025, at Independence Health System Latrobe Hospital. Born Aug. 28, 1932, in Calumet, he was a son of the late Homer and Catherine (Borza) Hails. Prior to Don's retirement, he was employed at U.S. Steel and also had worked for Commercial Bank and Laidlaw/First Student. Don was a member of the Greek Club, Frontier Club, White House Club, Twin Maples Hunt Club, and a 70-year member of the American Legion. He enjoyed golfing, traveling, and hunting trips with his buddy Lou. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn 'Jean' Hails; and a brother, Allison Hails. Don is survived by his wife of 37 years, Susan J. (Litzinger) Hails of Latrobe; one son, Donald Paul Hails, and his wife, Sharon, of Norvelt; one daughter, Jodi Ann Yaklich of Jeannette; a stepson, Larry Rosborough, of South Carolina; five grandchildren, Zachary Pollock, Cortney Hails, Donald P. Hails Jr., Tami Jo Thornton, and Joshua Yaklich; two step-grandchildren, Kalyn and Alaina; nine great-grandchildren, Trinity, Beau, Brentley, Charles, Alexis, Paityn, Charlie, Bradleigh, and Ronan; a sister-in-law, Bethann Paesano; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Loyalhanna Care Center and Senior Suites, as well as the third floor staff at Independence Health System Latrobe Hospital, for their excellent care and compassion. At his request, there will be no public visitations. A memorial service will be announced at a later date. Interment is private.
