Donald G. Heimer

Donald G. Heimer, age 78, of Staples, MN, passed away peacefully at his home on May 7, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on May 5, 1947, in Austin, MN, to Gregory and Doris (Illingsworth) Heimer, Don lived a life marked by service, devotion, and deep-rooted love for his family and country. After graduating high school, he proudly served in the United States Army, completing two tours in Vietnam. His military career took him across the world, including assignments at Fort Eustis, VA, and later Germany, where he was stationed in 1979.

On November 15, 1969, Don married the love of his life, Mae Cohenour. Together, they shared many adventures, including over five years living on a military base in Germany. After returning to Little Falls, MN, Don retired from military service in 1986. He and Mae settled into life on a cherished hobby farm, where Don found great joy in gardening both flowers and vegetables, nurturing life with the same care he gave to his family.

Don is survived by his beloved wife Mae; daughter Pamela (Jason) Brown; sister Nancy Paula Davies; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces; and in-laws Shirley Maier and many other cherished extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his son Timothy Heimer, his parents Gregory and Doris, his sister Ramona, and one niece.

Don will be remembered for his quiet strength, generous spirit, and unwavering dedication to those he loved. His legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew him.
