Heidi Joy Heimer, born on July 7, 1957, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, passed away on May 1, 2025. Heidi was a Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and Friend. Despite her struggle with mental illness, her beautiful soul and smile shone brightly, touching all those who knew her. As Emily Dickinson once wrote, "Hope is the thing with feathers that perches in the soul." Heidi's hope and strength, even in the face of adversity, were an inspiration to all.
Heidi found joy and solace in expressing herself through her art and music. As a gifted artist, her drawings and paintings were a testament to her innate talent for capturing the beauty of the world around her. Her music, especially her piano playing, was another outlet for her creativity. Her greatest achievement, however, was the love she had for her family and those she cared about. She shared a special bond with her lifelong friend John that will never be forgotten. During her working years Heidi worked on the production line for Carbonneau Industries before becoming a sales clerk at Lazerus Department Store.
She is survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law, Christa and Kyle Snyder; granddaughters, Kylee, Coralynn and Klara Snyder; her caring brother and sister-in-law, Pete and Julie Heimer and nephews, Seth, Troy and Beau; her treasured sister, Jodi Heimer; and her long-time friend, John Parker.
Heidi was preceded in death by her father, Roy Heimer, and her mother, Jeneva Prentice.
There will be no official service held for Heidi, however, we will have a graveside burial planned on her birthday July 7, 2025.
In lieu of flowers or cards we are asking for donations to go to the Schizophrenia and Psychosis Action Alliance (click the link below to donate online)
We invite you to share your favorite memories and photos of Heidi on her memorial page. Her life was a testament to the indomitable spirit of the human soul, and your remembrances will help keep her memory alive.
