Donald Ray Holt, 86, of Gallatin, Tennessee (formerly of Muncie, Indiana), passed away on Wednesday, March 5, 2025.
Don was born in Muncie, Indiana, October 6, 1938. He graduated in 1955 at the age of 16 from Royerton High School in Muncie. He continued his education with the help of a Storer Scholarship at Indiana University, graduating in 1959. Don participated on the IU Freshman basketball team. His love of all sports continued throughout his life along with the following of his children down their paths in sports.
Don retired from R.R. Donnelley and Sons after 43 years with the company. While with the company, he worked at facilities in Warsaw, IN; Old Saybrook, CT; Dwight, IL; Gallatin, TN; and Spartanburg, SC while also working in Newton, NC and Lynchburg, VA.
For relaxation, he enjoyed golf, bridge, Indiana University Basketball and Cincinnati Reds Baseball.
He is survived by Donna Deane Holt, his wife of 63+ years; sons, Scott (Janel Terrell) Holt of Gallatin, Jeff (Rhonda Lundquist) Holt of Hendersonville, Daryl (Shannon Harlan) Holt of Gallatin; Grandchildren: Brad Holt of Hendersonville, Bryant (Moira) Holt of Chicago, IL; Peyton Holt of Hendersonville, Trey Holt of Nashville, Zachary Holt of Gallatin, Kayla (Justin) Grogan of Greenbrier and Kaysi Ziolkowski of Sango; Great grandchildren: Owen and Colin Holt of Chicago, IL, Tucker and Ike Ziolkowski of Sango, Jolene and Sonny Grogan of Greenbrier; as well as several nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Don was preceded in death by his father and mother, Francis K. and Pauline C. Holt, sister, Carol Beaty-Withers.
He was a member of St. Joseph of Arimathea Episcopal Church in Hendersonville. A visitation will be held Friday, March 21, 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Alexander Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Gallatin, TN. A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 22 at 11:00 AM, at St. Joseph Arimathea Episcopal Church with visitation at 10AM until time of Mass.
