Donald James Holt, a beloved father and master craftsman, passed away peacefully on November 21, 2025, in Las Vegas, Nevada, surrounded by the loving care of his son. He was born on November 2, 1933, and lived a remarkable life marked by hard work, kindness, and an unwavering dedication to his family.
Donald, affectionately known as Jim, spent his professional career with HM Construction, a family-run business in Canonsburg, PA, where his penchant for craftsmanship shined brightly. His skill as a carpenter was evident not only in the beautiful structures he helped create but also in the home he meticulously built outside Avella, PA, in 1984. As a master craftsman, there was nothing he could not fix or build, earning him the respect and admiration of all who knew him.
Above all, Jim was a kind and welcoming person, known for his friendly demeanor and deep love for his family. A hard-working father who put others before himself, he exemplified the true meaning of selflessness. He lived life on his own terms, and one of his boldest decisions was moving across the country to vibrant Las Vegas with his son and daughter-in-law. This leap reminded everyone who crossed his path of the importance of family and pursuing happiness.
Jim proudly served his country with an honorable discharge from the United States Army. His dedication to service and his community was interwoven with his profound role as a father—a role he cherished deeply.
He is survived by his son, Donald James Holt Jr., and his daughter-in-law Bertha Margot Holt. Jim is also remembered with love by the spirits of his infant son, David Russell, his parents, Matthew Butler and Mary Noblett Holt, and his cherished wife, Beverly (Sickle) Holt, who preceded him in death.
As we honor the life of Donald James Holt, we celebrate a man who taught us all the value of hard work, the joy of building a loving home, and the importance of caring for one another. His memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him, a touching reminder of a life well-lived and a love that knows no bounds.
Burial will be private per Jim's wishes. All services are entrusted to the William G. Neal Funeral Home 925 Allison Ave. Washington PA 15301
