William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd. - WashingtonKathryn L. Farrow Smith, 76, of Washington, passed away November 22, 2025, in UPMC Washington.
She was born April 12, 1949, in Beaver County, a daughter of the late William Farrow and Catherine Hummel Farrow.
Kathryn graduated from Riverside High School and went on to gain five master’s degrees from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and Cal U. She also took several courses at Washington & Jefferson College as part of her degree programs.
She used her degrees to become a teacher for Washington County Alternative High School.
Kathryn was a member of the Martha Washington Garden Club, Wellness Center Book Club and was very active with her grandchildren’s 4-H program. Kathryn also loved farming and gardening. She spent time as a goat farmer and was a lifelong horse lover. She was an avid sports fan, who loved to cheer on McGuffy’s football and wrestling teams.
On November 28, 1970, she married William “Bill” Smith who survives.
Also surviving are four children, Travis (Lisa) W. Smith, Meghan (Ryan) Kramer Smith, Jared (Anna) Smith, and Trevor Smith; and 12 grandchildren, Austin, Maura, Logan, Ella, Chase, Brady, Foster, Addison, Emily, Annika, Chamberlain and Lily.
She is preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by two sisters, Sharon Shipton and Beth Barto.
Family and friends will be received from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday, December 18, 2025, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 19, 2025, with Pastor Wade Bartow officiating. Interment will follow in Washington Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made towards the Scholarship Fund or Blue Star Memorial Fund organized by the Martha Washington Garden Club Kathryn was a part of.
