Regis Lis Obituary

Regis J. Lis, a devoted husband, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2026, in Washington, Pennsylvania, surrounded by his cherished family. Born on October 6, 1948, Regis lived a life characterized by love, kindness, and a deep appreciation for the simple joys of life.

A devoted electrical engineer, Regis dedicated over 30 years of his career to Pleasants Power Station on Willow Island. He pursued his education with vigor, attending Trinity High School and earning a Bachelor of Science Degree from West Virginia University, laying the foundation for a fulfilling professional journey.

Regis was more than just an engineer; he was a wonderful husband to his beloved wife, Gail (Kolence) Lis. Their love story began at a friend's party, where fate intertwined their lives, leading to a beautiful marriage on August 21, 1976. Together, they fostered a life filled with laughter, compassion, and unwavering support for one another. Regis’s most proud accomplishments were found in the moments spent with his family and the love he shared with Gail.

His personality shone brightly through his welcoming nature, always making others feel at ease. His zest for life was reflected in his hobbies and interests—whether it was casting a line while fishing, taking serene walks in nature, marveling at the beauty of birdwatching, or enjoying the sun and surf at the beach, Regis found joy in the world around him.

He is survived by his loving wife, Gail, who held his heart, and his brother, James A. "JJ" (Jan) Lis, who cherished their bond. Regis leaves behind cherished brothers-in-law Chuck Kolence and Curt (Tam) Kolence, as well as nephews Chase (Kelley) Kolence and Brandon (Emily) Kolence, along with a great niece, Paige Kolence, and a great nephew, Bowen Kolence. He also held dear the companionship of his cousin Sharon (Karl) Pruett.  Thank you to Rege Penderville and Joe Lis for their cherished friendship over the years.

Regis was predeceased by his father and mother, Julius "Bud" Lis and Genevieve Zembroski, who instilled in him the values of love and integrity that shaped the man he became.

Though Regis has left this earthly realm, his memory will endure through the hearts of those who knew him. His legacy of kindness, dedication to family, and appreciation for the beauty of nature will forever be cherished. In the thoughts of those he loved, Regis will continue to inspire and bring warmth, as he always did in life.

Friends and family will be received at the William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Ave. Washington PA on Monday February 16, 2026 from 2PM to 4PM and 6PM to 8PM.  A Catholic Blessing service will take place on Tuesday February 17, 2026 at 11AM at the funeral home.  Burial to follow at Washington Cemetery
