Donald Wayne Jackson passed away August 30, 2022, in Lacey, Washington, his home of 20 years. He was born March 25, 1938, to Wayne and Susan Jackson in Mapleton, Iowa. Over the years, he also resided in Des Moines, Washington (1970s and 1980s); Phoenix, Arizona (early 1970s); and Southern California (1960s).
Donald graduated from high school in Los Angeles and attended college in Iowa in the 1950s. He married Jessie M. Henderson on January 7, 1966, in Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada.
Donald was friendly, outgoing, humorous, very determined and ambitious. From humble beginnings, he became a very successful construction contractor/real estate developer. As president of Jackson Development (1980s and 1990s), he built numerous apartments, condos, and commercial buildings.
He loved classic cars and hot rods, golf, watching baseball (Mariners) and football (Seahawks), and attending his grandchildren's activities. He was a member of Knights of Columbus and Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lacey.
Donald is survived by his wife, Jessie Jackson of Wellington, Florida; sons, Duke Jackson of Tacoma, Washington, and Pete Jackson of Lacey, Washington; daughter, Susan Jackson of Wellington, Florida; four grandchildren; and sister, Fran O'Brien of Westminster, California. He was predeceased by his parents.
There will be a viewing on Thursday, September 8, 2022, 3:00-5:00 p.m. at South Sound Manor, 455 North St. SE, Tumwater, WA 98501. A funeral mass will be held Friday, September 9, 2022, 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 812 Bowker St. SE, Lacey, WA 98503.
