Donald Wayne Jones, age 84, passed away on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, in Farwell, TX. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2025. A family lunch will take place from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Central Time, followed by a gathering for all who would like to attend from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Central Time at the Farwell Community Center, 207 9th St., Farwell, TX 79325.
He was born on July 21, 1941, in Memphis, TX, to Ordie Hurnton Jones and Carlene Martin. Donald married Victoria Lewis on February 12, 1982, in Clovis, NM. He was an extremely intelligent individual, earning a Doctorate in Plant Physiology and weed science from Virginia Tech in 1971.
He and his wife, Victoria, built their business, DVJ Farms, from the ground up and supplied their community and customers with the best sweet corn around for over 20 years. Following his farming career, he remained in agriculture by earning his license in crop insurance, continuing his passion by working in the field for 16 years, and finally retiring altogether at the age of 78.
Donald enjoyed fishing, farming, camping, and was an avid sports fan, always rooting for the Cowboys.
Donald is survived by his wife, Victoria Jones of the home; four children: Corey Jones of Blythe, CA, Jeremy Jones (Geisha) of Lubbock, TX, Cindy Burton (Ivan) of Clovis, NM, and Kristi Carson (Allen) of Cross Plains, TN; his brother, Reggie Jones of Amarillo, TX; two sisters, Brenda Riddle of Bovina, TX, and Kathy Boozer (Lowell) of Canyon, TX; nine grandchildren: Ashley Jones, Allyson Jones, Gabriela Bastidas, Ann Jones, Colton Longley, Joshua Longley (Sara Long-ley), Brittany Taylor (Ben), Allie Carson, and Meagan Lee (Carter); and three great-grandchildren: Yakira Longley, Rio Taylor, and Zeal Taylor.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ordie Hurnton (OH) Jones and Carlene Martin, and by his first wife, Judy Billingsley-Jones.
