Donald John Joseph Pempek, a loving husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away on November 12, 2025, at the age of 52 in Barrington, IL. Born on July 26, 1973, in Woodstock IL, he was a man of wisdom and kindness, whose presence brought light and laughter to everyone he encountered.
DJ's life in McHenry laid a strong foundation for his love of nature and the outdoors. His passion for animals was evident to all who knew him, especially in the joy he took in fostering dogs and caring for any creature in need. His gentle and friendly demeanor made him a cherished member of his community. His volunteer work with rescues will forever be cherished.
Dj was blessed to find love with his wife, Stephanie, with whom he shared countless memories and adventures. He formed a special bond with her sons, Nathan, Thomas, and John; a cherished relationship as a father, friend, teacher and leader.. DJ's sister, Kim, nieces Lorraine, Heather, Celia, and Lucia, nephew Benjamin, great-niece Jacqlyn,, great-nephews Jacob and Bradley, mother-in-law Dora, brother /sister in law Anthony and Jasmine, cousins Paul, Madeleine and Raina will remember him as the pillar of wisdom and love he was. He now joins in peace his brother Kevin and parents, Donald B. Pempek and Carmella Perrone, who preceded him in death.
Professionally, Dj was highly respected in the field of plastics engineering/molding. His contributions to the industry were marked by innovation and a keen understanding of both the technical and environmental aspects of his work. His colleagues valued him not only for his expertise but also for his uniqueness and sense of humor.
DJ's interests were as varied as they were deep.
His love for dogs and animals was paralleled by his passion for music, art, and literature. He found solace and inspiration in the pages of books, and his home was a testament to his diverse tastes, adorned with artwork and filled with melodies. Tattooing was not just a hobby for Dj; it was a form of expression that he both practiced and celebrated. His own tattoos told stories of his life experiences, his dreams, and the people he loved.
Dj was blessed on October 7, 2017 with a heart transplant at the University of Chicago Medicine. He agreed to test a new heart device while waiting on transplant called the NuPulse. He was patient #21 of 50, he was forever grateful for being a part of that life saving experience. The University doctors and staff became another support family for him the last 8 years.
DJ's legacy is one of love, friendship, and wisdom. He approached life with an open heart and a ready smile, making friends wherever he went. His ability to listen and offer thoughtful advice endeared him to many, and his presence will be deeply missed.
As we bid farewell to Donald John Joseph Pempek, we celebrate the life he lived so fully and the countless ways he enriched our lives. His spirit will continue to guide us, and his memory will live on as a beacon of the love and kindness he so freely gave.
