It is with deep Love and admiration that we celebrate the life of Don Karber who passed away peacefully on March 31st at the age of 76. Born in Perryton, Texas Don was a devoted Husband, Father, Uncle, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather, Army Veteran, Church Deacon, and Friend.
Don is now reunited in heaven with his father and mother Ben & Lois Karber who proceeded him in death.
Don attended High School in Dumas Texas where he met his wife Vivian Lynn (Duby). The two fell in love and married in January of 1968. They were married for 57 years and three months. Their love was strong, lifelong and everlasting.
He was drafted and served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War Area 1968-1970.
After returning home Don began his career as an electrician at Phillips Petroleum Company. He was a highly skilled electrician, He was known for his dedication, precision to his craft and exceptional work ethic. His commitment and leadership carried him through the ranks as he would later become the first automation electronic specialist for Duke Energy. He retired with more than 34 Years of experience.
Don also had a lifelong love of music. He was a self-taught guitarist. He was a letterman in the high school choir. He would lead worship at many churches. He spent countless hours entertaining his family and children with his guitar and beautiful baritone voice. He loved the Beach Boys as well as John Denver and countless Christian hymns.
Don was an outdoorsman that truly loved fishing, camping, hunting and was just and all-around gun enthusiast. He loved collecting guns as well as shooting at the range. He was a marksman that won many trophies and contest shooting hunters silhouette competitions all around the Texas Panhandle. He was also interested in RC airplanes. He would spend hours building and flying them throughout the 1990’s.
Don greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his wife of 57 years Vivian Lynn Karber of Fritch, Texas.
His brother Harold Karber of Kingfisher Oklahoma, His sister Betty Ann Barber and her husband Randy of Inverness Florida.
His children Wesley Karber and wife Michelle of Amarillo TX, Holly Schnieder and husband Eric of Gillette Wyoming.
His grandchildren Austin Don Karber, Mason Mills, Alexandria Sudbury, Clayton Mills.
His great-granddaughter Sunday Sudbury
Don will be profoundly missed by all that had the pleasure of knowing him.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Friday, April 4, 2025, at Celebration Family Church in Fritch. Services are under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Fritch.
