Donald E. Kennedy

Donald Kennedy, 73, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Saturday, September 10, 2022. Don arrived on March 5, 1949 to Walter and Zelda Kennedy. Growing up Don enjoyed completing his paper route, so he could go play with his friends. He graduated in 1967 from James A. Garfield High School and served our nation as an MP in the Army. Don married his best friend Gloria on July 18, 1970. He loved watching all sports, especially with his family. Don enjoyed playing cards, visiting Casinos, trivia and coaching his fantasy football league. Don worked for Carlon for 30 years then finished his career at Aurora Plastics, where he was employed for 20 years, before retiring in 2018 to be a stay-at-home husband. He was a kind and loving husband, father, and friend.
Don is survived by his wife, Gloria; his children Angie and John (Melissa) both of Kent, OH; his granddaughter Whitney Alleshouse of Kent, OH; his brothers, James of Hayward, CA., and Richard (Linda) of Champagne, IL; and his sister Connie (Rick) of Fort Worth, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Robert "Bob", and his sister Jane.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2022 at Bissler and Sons Funeral home, 628 W. Main St., Kent, OH 44240. Visitation will be from 1:00PM to 2:00PM with a service at 2:00PM. For those unable to attend, a livestream of the service will be broadcast on the Bissler and Sons Funeral Home Facebook Page. A private graveside service for family will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family to help with expenses or to the American Cancer Society. In honor of Don the family asks that everyone wears their favorite sports team to the service.
