Donald Kopplin

Beloit, WI - Donald E. Kopplin, 92, of Beloit, WI, passed away on Sunday, March 9, 2025 at Beloit Memorial Hospital. He was born on September 17, 1932 in Beloit, WI, the son of Elmer and Gladys (Greer) Kopplin. Donald was a 1950 Beloit Memorial High School graduate. He married Billie Poe on November 13, 1951 in Dubuque, IA. She predeceased him on April 27, 2002. Donald began his working career alongside his father at The Casino in Allens Grove, WI. He then was employed by Beloit Corporation until his retirement. Donald was a former member of St. John's Lutheran Church. He loved to golf and spent many days on the Krueger-Haskell Golf Course with his "golfing buddies". Donald was very proud that he shot a hole in one twice. He and Billie spent a lot of time traveling across the states and would stop to golf along the way. Donald enjoyed caring for his yard and could often be found on his lawnmower. He was an avid Wisconsin sports fan and especially enjoyed cheering on the Green Bay Packers, Wisconsin Badgers, Milwaukee Bucks, and Milwaukee Brewers. Survivors include his daughters, Cynthia "Cindy" Cruz of Beloit, WI and Holly Smith of Madison, WI; grandchildren, Sean Cruz, Sarah Cruz, Margaret (Leland Pan) Smith, and Emily Smith; two great-grandchildren, Tyler and Jacob Cruz; in-laws, nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends; dear neighbors, Sissy, Marilyn and Dave. Donald was predeceased by his parents; son, Steven Kopplin; infant sister; son-in-law, Edward Smith; and numerous golf buddies. The family would like to thank the Beloit Memorial Hospital staff for the care they gave Donald. A Private Family Service for Donald will be held. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery.
