Funeral services for Donald Ray Lara will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 11, 2011 at First United Methodist Church with Pastor Burry Bessee officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Thursday, February 10, 2011 at Walker Funeral Home. Don Lara, age 62, of Gillette, Wyoming died on Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at Campbell County Memorial Hospital of cardiac arrest. Don Lara was born on July 13, 1948, in Gillette, Wyoming the son of Benerito "Benny" and Rose (Jarmillo) Lara. He was raised and educated in Gillette. Don worked for Wyodak Coal Mine for 15 plus years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing bingo, branding, cooking family dinners and spending time with his family. Don will be greatly missed by his friends and family. Don is survived by his children: Don "Bub" Lara Jr., Christopher Lara, Alexander Lara all of Gillette, Wyoming, Vicky Blackburn of Lake Havasu City, Arizona, Michelle Serna, Stacey Martin, Donniesha Lara and Olivia Lara all of Gillette, Wyoming; brothers: Benny Lara, Bobby Lara and Steve Lara; sisters: Glenda Valencia, Betty Clouse, Vickie Barker and Brenda LaVallie; 12 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; special friend, Michelle Henderson of Gillette, Wyoming and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Billy Lara; sisters: Peggy Lara, Gloria Lara and Dixie Scheifer; great granddaughter, Taytum Martell and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to be made in Don's name. Memorials and donations may be sent in care of Gillette Memorial Chapel, 210 W. 5th Street, Gillette, Wyoming 82716 or condolences via the internet at www.gillettememorialchapel.com.
