Donald W. Lemler, 82, of Smithton, MO, passed away on Sunday, August 4, 2024, at his home in Smithton. He was born on August 9, 1941, in Morgan County, MO, the son of Lee Edwin Lemler and Agnes Lorene (Klein) Lemler, who preceded him in death.
On April 19, 1963 in Stover, MO he was united in marriage to Bonnie L. Homan, who preceded him in death on January 4, 2021.
Donnie graduated from Stover High School and attended Florence United Methodist Church with his family while growing up. He spent most of his youth near Florence, MO. After getting married, he moved to Fulton, Tipton, and later settled in Smithton. Donnie started working in road construction at the age of 18, where he worked for Twehaus Construction, Koerkenmeier Construction, and Kelly Brother Construction. He eventually joined Clarkson Construction and became a Paving Superintendent, retiring from Clarkson after 26 years.
Donnie had a passion for tractors, particularly John Deere tractors. He enjoyed mowing, working in the garden, and chatting with his neighbors. He was always ready to help fix things that his daughters broke. Additionally, he liked sports and was known as the Croquet King by his family. He spent many hours playing games and cards with his grandchildren. Donnie could often be seen cruising in his side-by-side "buggy" around Smithton, Florence, and the surrounding area.
Survivors include three daughters, Debbie Klatt (Patrick) of Ozark, MO, Brenda Lemler of Auxvasse, MO, and Melissa Archibald (Shane) of Blue Eye, MO; one brother, Bobbie Lemler and a brother-in-law, Bob Bremer, both of Smithton, MO; six grandchildren, Erin, Brandon, Trevor, Blake, Chase, and Seth; three grand dogs, Dallas, Eva, and Winston, and lots of grand kitties.
In addition to his wife and parents, Don was preceded in death by a sister, Norma Jean Bremer.
A memorial service was held by the family on Saturday, August 18, 2025, in Florence, MO.
Arrangements are in the care of Rea Funeral Chapel.
