Donald C. Lundgren

Donald "Don" Lundgren, 91, passed away in his home at Lincolnshire Place on Monday, March 13, 2023. Born April 1, 1931 at OSF Hospital in Rockford, IL, the son of Harry and Florence (Flood) Lundgren. Married the former Mary Louise Massier in Rockford, IL on February 23, 1963. They were married for 49 years before his loving and caring Marylou passed away in 2012. Don was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Army. Don worked at several machine shops in Rockford and retired from Amerock Corporation in 1993 after 22 years as a tool and die maker. Don enjoyed golfing and fishing and following the Chicago Bears and Cubs. He also enjoyed casino trips, walks in the park, sunshine and laughter with his special friend, Inga Tackeberry. Don is remembered for his sweet nature and caring love for his family and close friends. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church.
Survivors include sons, Stephen Lundgren and Jeffrey (Sonja) Lundgren; daughter, Joanie (Raymond) Brandt and Katherine Lundgren; grandchildren, Jamie (Wes) McAlister, Christina (Brandon) Gulotta, Lindsey (Edwin) Petty, Jakob Edgecomb, Joshua Edgecomb, Cole Brandt and Cassidy Brandt; and great-grandchildren, Riley, Lucas, Kendra, Kevin, Kenden and Yessenia "Yessie". He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary Louise Lundgren; son, Daniel Lundgren; grandson, Jarrod Edgecomb; brother, Duane Lundgren; sister, Virginia Fenske; and family friend, Hal Tackeberry.
He considered Lincolnshire Place his home and Don's family lovingly thanks the entire staff (too many wonderful people to list) at Lincolnshire Place and Transitions Hospice Care, especially to Larry. They all brought such joy and caring in his time there.
Celebration of Life service is on Friday, March 24, 2023 at 5:30 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, 343 Grand Avenue, Loves Park, IL 61111.
