Donald Earl Mabs

Donald Earl Mabs, age 81, of Springville, passed away peacefully at home on December 6, 2025. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Kathy; his beloved children, Sherry Hall, Lesley Hansen, Scott Mabs, and David Mabs; thirteen grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Betty Mabs; and his brother David Mabs.

He was born on May 29, 1944, in Benton Harbor,Michigan, to Arthur and Betty Mabs. The family relocated to Anaheim and then Porterville, CA. Don married his high school sweetheart, Kathleen Patterson, in 1966 after graduating from Cal Poly Pomona with a degree in Citrus Farming. Together they raised four children and built a home filled with laughter, music, and love. Don and Art began a father-son farming partnership in 1969, growing oranges, boysenberries, and apples for twenty years. In 1995, Don became a farm manager for Agri Care, where he worked for the next twenty-five years.

Don was a dedicated Christian and farm manager. He was known for his confident, cheerful voice, generosity, and love for people. His expertise in citrus farming has been a foundational influence in California's citrus industry and for the many clients that he faithfully served.

He was a church pianist, organist, and deacon for many years at Ducor First Baptist Church and then Henderson Avenue Baptist Church. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who cherished spending time with family, fly-fishing, and serving in the church.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 18, 2025 at 10:30 AM at Henderson Avenue Baptist Church, with a reception to follow. Interment to be private.
