In loving memory of Donald Edward McAdams, we are saddened to announce his passing on December 29, 2023. Our dad was greeted by his wife, Nancy June Fitzsimmons (2020) and his son Pete Edward McAdams (2020).
He was married to Nancy June Fitzsimmons for 53 years. His work enabled his family to live in ten different states. He was a dedicated father to Amy McAdams Gettings, Pete McAdams, and Erin Ledermann (Jason). He will always be very proud of his grandchildren, Doolin and Eveyln Gettings and Ian, Elsa, Saul and Henry Ledermann.
Family was very important to our dad, he would often say that no matter what, the people around this dinner table will always be your best friends. He made an impression on everyone he met. Our dad had a very strong work ethic. He got his masters later in life. Mentoring, coaching and motivating others became his purpose at work and at home.
If you knew Don you knew that:
He would not let anyone tell him he couldn’t do or accomplish what he wanted
Heat was the staff of life
He was a football fan especially his alma mater, Florida State and the Green Bay Packers
He was an avid runner and a big boxing fan in his younger years
He was secretly a very, talented artist
He was a good road trip driver but NOT a good passenger
He was huge lover of Diet Coke and M&M’s (In fact, any donations to M&M Mars or Coca-Cola Company would be appreciated because there will be a huge decrease in their sales)
With sadness in our hearts, we find solace in knowing that he is in a better place. His presence may have left this world, but his spirit continues to inspire and guide us every day.
The family would like to thank the staff at Heartland Hospice and Harvest Home for their kindness and compassion.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Harvest Home Assisted Living.
Services will be held at a later date.
