Donald Jeffrey McMasters "Curly", passed away on October 25, 2025, after an extended illness.
Jeff was born on May 14, 1943, in Temple, Texas to Doris and Lt. Colonel Donald McMasters. After graduating from Groton High School, Jeff held construction management jobs for many local companies. He was also a member of the Operating Engineers Local Syracuse Chapter. Eventually Jeff formed three businesses of his own, Upstream Construction, LLC, Brown and McMasters, as well as Upstream Dream Farm.
Jeff was predeceased by his parents, Donald and Doris McMasters as well as his brother Gregory.
He leaves behind his spouse Shelby White of Taylor and his beloved cat Deliliah. As well as his best friend Mark Brown. Jeff also leaves behind his children, Donald (Kimberly) and David (Jennifer). Grandchildren, Karlee, Andrew, Hannah, Molly, and Benjamin.
Jeff was a member of the Groton Rod and Gun Club. Participating in many shooting events and clambake fundraisers. He was a registered ATA Trapshooter with many 200 straights. Jeff was also a member of the Board of Directors, making positive decisions for the Club's future. An excellent hunter and fisherman, he enjoyed many a hunting camp stories with his compadres.
Jeff was also an avid Harley rider and builder. He was self-taught with remarkable mechanic and painting skills, building many hot rods throughout the years.
Curly had a love for life and all that surrounded him. His pride and joy was his farm, Upstream Dream Farm, where he raised black angus beef and rode his Ima horse through the trails on his beautiful Upstream Dream Farm. However, Jeff eventually retired and enjoyed the Florida Snowbird life. Making many memories with Shelby and friends fishing and pontoon boating on Lake Eustis.
A celebration of Jeff's life will be held in the Spring; details will be announced when they become available.
