Donald Eugene Mick

Donald "Donnie" Eugene Mick, 74, of Holt, Missouri passed away Friday November 28th at Liberty Hospital. He was born May 20th, 1951 in Jackson County, Missouri.
He was born the second son to Willie D and Marge Mick. Growing up on the family farm taught him his work ethic. After graduating high school in 1969, Donnie completed his Aviation Mechanic certification. Though short lived, he enjoyed his time working on planes. By this time he married Rebecca Hernandez on May 6th,1972 and was working factory jobs and on the farm. In 1977 they welcomed their first child in July, 16 months later their first daughter arrived in November of '78. From 1979 to 80 he joined the New York Life company, realizing that line of work wasn't quite his calling he entered a career with Packaging Corporation of America where he rose to be a supervisor. October of 1981 he and Beck welcomed their 3rd child, their second daughter. 1982 brought more change, a new business adventure with his brother in law. McSmith Chimney Sweeps was created and is still going strong today! After having 2 foot surgeries in the late 80's Don was forced to make yet another career change, but not before welcoming their 4th and final child, their second son. He attended and graduated top of his class from Electronics Institute in 1992. After a few years of job searching he finally found his calling and joined the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 101 Union in 1995. Here he thrived from being many of things from an operator to oiler and everything in between, no job he was asked to do was ever too small or too big for him to handle. He finally hung his hard hat up in 2016. He spent his retirement years exactly how he wanted and on his time. With family, friends, his animals, his hot rod and time on the family farm he loved so much.
Don is proceeded in death by his parents, Marjorie and Willie D Mick; sisters, Debbie Mick and Cathy Gensler; his brother, Ed Mick; mother of his children, Rebecca Mick; Grandson, John Dennis
Survivors include his children Gabe (Marie) Mick of Holt. Sarah Nicole Mick (Alexander Jason Towell) of Claycomo. Theresa (Jason) Stokes of Holt. Joe (Rosemary) Mick of Lathrop. Grandchildren Ashlee Dennis of Trimble. Dannielle (Jordan) Jarquio of Raytown. Garrett Owings of Liberty. Lucas and Jaxon Stokes of Holt. Dayva Mick of Lathrop. Great Grandchildren Maxwell and Mariana Jarquio of Raytown. Louella and Daphne Naedele of Trimble. Sister in law, Susan Mick of Holt. Nephew, Chris (Christina) Mick of Holt. Niece, Misty (Scott) Mathis of Holt. Many other nieces and nephews from the Hernandez family.
