AUSTINTOWN - Donald M. Morgan Sr., 95, passed away on September 29, 2025, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown, Ohio.
Born on April 23, 1930, in New Castle, PA, the son of David and Jessie Williams Morgan.
A proud veteran of the United States Navy, Don served during the Korean War, an experience that instilled in him a profound love for his country and its symbols, particularly the American flag. He often expressed his patriotic spirit and was honored to have served in the military.
Don’s career as a machinist saw him climb the ranks to become a foreman for Youngstown Welding and Engineering. His dedication to his work was matched only by his love for his family, whom he cherished deeply.
Known for his quiet personality, Don had a passion for old cars, often humorously stating, "Old men need fast cars," whenever questioned about his interest in antiques. He also enjoyed playing the lottery, further testament to his lively enthusiasm and engagement with life.
Don leaves behind a profound impact on all who knew him, characterized by his unwavering love for his family and his pride in serving his country. He will be remembered for his generosity, humor, and the joy he brought to those fortunate enough to call him family and friend.
He is survived by his beloved wife, the former Doreen Jones, whom he married on July 5, 1950. Together, they raised a loving family that includes their daughter, Gayle (Woody) Tillery, and son, Donald Morgan Jr., both residing in Austintown. Don was especially proud of his granddaughters, Jackie (Casey) Branham and Emily (Dave) Kline, as well as his three great-grandchildren, Morgan, CJ, and Rylin. He also had a fondness for his grand dogs, reflecting his nurturing spirit that extended to all living beings around him.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Dolores Mershimer, and brothers, David and Chuck Morgan.
