Donald D. Murphy, 83 of Warrensburg, Missouri passed away Thursday, April 7, 2022 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Don was born December 31, 1938 at a farm near Warrensburg, son of Clell and Dorothy (Walton) Murphy. He graduated from Warrensburg High School. He married Mary Anna Everts on June 27, 1959 in Warrensburg. Don worked briefly for Montgomery Ward before becoming employed with Rockwell International for the next 13 years. He then went to work at the local water department, where he retired as supervisor. Don was married to Wanda "Joyce" Van Oster on April 11, 1990 in Warrensburg. His hobbies included hunting, everything from morel mushrooms to deer; playing horseshoes and also, archery. Don was into the old crafts as well. His mind was always one step ahead of his next invention. He also restored old cars and horse drawn buggies.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce; four daughters: Pamela Poe (James) of Syracuse, MO; Mellany Solsberry (Stacy) of Warrensburg, MO; Lonya Puffer (Charles) of Iowa Falls, IA and Angela Minner (Kurt) of Syracuse, MO; two sons: Cary Murphy (Tammy) and Donald Murphy (Suzan) – all of Warrensburg, MO; fifteen grandchildren: James "Allen" Poe of Harrisonville, MO; Joyce Hart of Gravois Mills, MO; Lindsey Poe of Boonville, MO; Travis Murphy (Sheryl) of Kansas City, MO; Tiffany Jett (Anthony) of New York; Tina Hall (Justin) of Gillett, WY; Treena Murphy, Donald Murphy, Brandi Mannering and Regena Jankura all of Warrensburg, MO; Amy Johnson of Odessa, MO; Danna Norman (Chris) of Warrensburg, MO; Cody Puffer (M.C.) of Florida; Charlie Puffer of Iowa Falls, IA and Haley Allen (Sonny) of Stover, MO; 32 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife: Mary Anna Everts Murphy; an infant great granddaughter: Kathy Kay Jankura; sister: Betty Louise Park and two brothers: Clell Murphy, Jr. and Vernon Dale Murphy.
Funeral Service will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 14 at Williams Funeral Chapel in Warrensburg with his son, Don Murphy officiating.
Interment will follow at Warrensburg Memorial Gardens Cemetery, with Full Military Honors.
Pallbearers will be: Travis Murphy, Donald Murphy, Michael Bell, Marcus Wallace, Billy Krewson and Charlie Puffer. Honorary Pallbearers will be Chris Gibson, Kurt Minner, Charles Puffer, Christian Del Rio and Chris Norman.
The family will receive friends, one hour prior to service, Thursday at the chapel.
Memorial Contributions may be left to the family.
