Donald A. Newell passed away peacefully on the afternoon of June 22nd,2025 after facing metastatic bladder cancer with strength and grace.
Don is lovingly remembered by his wife, Pat Newell; his sons, Sean (Cori) Newell, Justin (Wendy) Newell; daughters-in-law, Cori and Wendy; his cherished grandchildren Kaelah Zimmerman, Cassidy Newell, Keaton Newell, Delaney Newell and great-grandson Walker Zimmerman. He is also survived by his brother, Richard (Sue Stiegelmier) Newell, sister-in-law Dee Smith; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
We are deeply grateful to the physicians and staff at The Ohio State James Cancer Research Center for their exceptional care, compassion, and support during Don’s journey.
Throughout his life, Don took great pride in his career in the transportation industry, where he formed many meaningful and lasting friendships. His sense of humor, loyalty, and generous spirit left an imprint on everyone who knew him.
In lieu of a formal service, and in honor of Don’s wishes, and the wide geographical reach of family and friends, please raise a parting glass of your favorite beverage (a single malt scotch, if you truly want to do it right) and toast to a life well lived.
