On Wednesday, July 6th, 2022, Donald "Don" Oyen, loving husband and father of four children, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his own home after a courageous battle with cancer, at the age of 64. Don was born on April 8th, 1958 in Cuba City, Wisconsin to Philip and Grace (Wiegman) Oyen.
Don had dreamed of becoming a farmer since he was a young boy. He attended Potosi High School and was a member of the FFA. He helped on the family farm for many years before he started farming on a dairy farm in Potosi with his best farmhand and partner in life. Don married Lisa Fecht on October 3rd, 1981 at St. Andrew Church in Tennyson, Wisconsin. Together they raised their four kids in Gods' country on a beautiful farm on a hill. He was hard working and there wasn't a task on the farm he couldn't do himself. Don enjoyed deer hunting and loved sharing the joy of hunting with all of his kids. Don was always a nice and caring man, willing to drop anything he was doing to help others, including his brother Chuck on his farm. He enjoyed spending time laughing with family around the dinner table, playing cards, and spoiling his grandkids. He was very proud of all of his kids and will be missed dearly by all.
He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Lisa, of Tennyson; four kids: Geoffrey (Alyssa) Oyen, Peosta, IA, Michelle (Paul) Schildgen, Madison, WI, Scott (Rebekka) Oyen, Potosi, WI, and Jason Oyen, Tennyson, WI; five grandkids: Lia, Landyn, Lainy, Avayah, and Chloe; his mother, Grace of Potosi; five siblings: LuAnn (Larry) Fecht, Debbie (Dave) Erie, Connie Miles (Terry Schaefer), Chuck (Karla) Oyen, and Jane (Ron) Harnage; and four in-laws: Karen (Jim) Schiffman, Dave (Kathy) Fecht, Fr. Geoffrey Fecht, OSB, and Bob Fecht.
Don was preceded in death by his father, Philip Oyen, his in-laws Francis and Hazel Fecht, and brother-in-law, Mike Miles.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2022 at St. Andrew Church, Tennyson at 11:00am.
Viewing from 8:00am to 10:45am prior to services. Burial will be at St. Andrew s Catholic Cemetery. Following service, a lunch will be provided at Sts. Andrew Thomas School. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Donald Oyen Memorial Fund. The Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville, is assisting the family. Online condolences can be made at
