Donald Packard

Donald Packard passed at the age of 97 on April 23, 2025. He was a proud Navy veteran and dedicated journeyman with Commonwealth Edison. He passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, quiet strength, and a kind heart that touched all who knew him.

Don served his country honorably in the United States Navy, embodying the values of service and discipline that he carried with him throughout his life. After his time in the military, he committed himself to a long and steady career as a journeyman with Commonwealth Edison, where he was known for his reliability, craftsmanship, and deep sense of responsibility.

Beyond his professional and military accomplishments, Don was a man of great warmth and generosity. He had a good heart - steady and steadfast - and was always ready to lend a hand, share a laugh, or offer a word of wisdom.

He was preceded in death by his wives, Lee Packard and Audrey Rodgers Packard. He is lovingly remembered by his children, Donna Montgomery and Charles (Linda) Packard; his grandson Jonathon and Jonathon's wife Julie; and his beloved great-grandchildren, Addison and Logan. Don also leaves behind extended family, John (Jan) and Robert (Carol) Rodgers, Leann (Jim) Hollywood and Carol (Fred) Schultz and grandchildren, to whom he was a caring and respected stepfather and friend.

Donald Packard will be missed dearly, but his memory lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. His legacy of integrity, kindness, and quiet courage will not be forgotten.

Cremation rites have been accorded.

Memorial visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, July 8, 2025 at Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home, Bourbonnais. Graveside service with military honors will follow immediately at Kankakee Memorial Gardens, Kankakee.
