Donald Joseph Perlot of Dover, Delaware passed away recently on February 19th,2025 at the age of 88 years old. He was born in Meriden, Connecticut on October 28th,1936. His parents were Eligio Mario Perlot and Stacia Theresa Perlot. He is survived by his three sons, Stephen M. Perlot and his wife Virginia of Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina, Kevin D. Perlot of Smyrna, Delaware and Scott J. Perlot and his wife Tammy of Smyrna, Delaware. Donald was predeceased by his wife Peggy Jean Perlot in November of 2023. Don has three sisters and one brother. He was predeceased by his sister Joan P. Hall of Sarasota, Florida in February of 2011, He is survived by his sister Dolores P. Miano and her late husband Joseph P. Miano of Port Charlotte, Florida, his brother David L. Perlot and his wife Joan of Southington, Connecticut, and his youngest sister Deborah P. Corsetti and her husband Eleuterio A. Corsetti of Cromwell, Connecticut, as well as many nieces and nephews. Donald served in the United States Air Force active duty from 1955 to 1975. Early in his career, Donald served as a draftsman but soon shifted over to personnel management. He continued to serve the USAF as a civilian in personnel management up until his retirement in 1993, completing 38 years of total service. He continued to work as a grocery bagger on Dover AFB for many years following. Don enjoyed many activities during his lifetime including being a champion horseshoe pitcher, square dance caller and an avid participant in 5 & 10k runs. He loved all types of music from classical, R & B, country, bluegrass and especially polka music. Don was a member of many organizations and clubs in the Dover area including Knights of Columbus, American Legion Post 2, Elks Club of Dover and Delaware Veterans Post 2. He especially enjoyed spending time at his late Aunt Mary's Annual Family Reunion Picnics every Summer in Meriden, Connecticut. In recent years, Don was a resident of the Delaware Veterans Home in Milford, DE where he enjoyed socializing with other veteran residents as well as the staff. He was always quick with a joke to shake things up a bit and lighten the mood. Anyone who met Don always enjoyed his humor and their conversation. He was a man who loved his country, his family and his many friends. Don will be truly missed. Viewing and visitation will be at Trader Funeral Home, 12 Lotus St. Dover, DE on Friday February 28th from 10am-1130am. A mass at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 631 S. State St. Dover, DE, will follow the viewing at 12Noon. Following the mass, a gathering of family and friends from 2-5pm will be at the Delaware Veterans Post 2, 720 Pear St. Dover, DE. A joint burial and ceremony at the Delaware Veterans Cemetary in Millsboro, DE for Donald J & Peggy J Perlot will be announced at a later date.
