Donald Lee Popp

Donald Lee Popp passed away unexpectedly at his home in Freedom, WI, on Saturday, February 28th, 2025. He leaves behind Mary Cabino, the love of his life, and his beloved dog, Baby.

Don was born on September 27, 1945, in Milwaukee, WI, to George and Lucille (Krause) Popp. He worked in building maintenance for a nursing home in Milwaukee before moving to Forest County about 30 years ago, where he could immerse himself in his passion for hunting and fishing until his diminishing eyesight limited that. He lived there until his passing, surrounded by the woods he cherished.

He is survived by his partner, Mary Cabino; his sister, Georgiann and brother-in-law, Ricky Thompson; his sister-in-law, Anita (Tuller) Popp; and nieces and nephews: Kim (Tom) Michalak, Dawn (Dale) Perkins, Gregory (Marsha) Popp, Denise Popp, and Jennifer Popp. Don is also survived by several great-nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends in the Crandon, Wabeno, and Laona, WI communities.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Robert Lee Popp, and his niece Lisa Thompson.

Plans are being made for a gathering of family and friends sometime in June that be announced.
