Donald Allen Puckitt, 92, of Bronson, died Monday, July 28, 2025, at his daughter's home in Kountze. He was born on November 16, 1932, to Fay Sheffield and Henry Puckitt in Jasper.

Donald was a faithful husband to his darling, Martha "Mert" Lee Puckitt, for over 68 years. He has held many occupations over the years including: a proud U.S. Army soldier who served in Korea, a loyal supervisor of Mobil Chemical in Beaumont for 30 years, a talented and patient farrier, and an incredible wood worker whose specialty was custom building anything his friends and family could dream up. Donald was the patriarch to his family of four children, 8 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren. After a successful career, Donald retired to the lake where he built Mert her dream lake house which became a safe haven for his family. His greatest joys in life were his family, being a 4H leader, frequent cups of coffee, nightly Bluebell ice cream and toe-tapping music.

Survivors include his sister, Laura Sue Lavasser; daughters, Cindy Blair and husband David of Nederland, Terri Smith and husband Elvin of Kountze; grandchildren, Amber Freeman, Justin Smith, Steven Puckitt, Ryan Puckitt, Cody Puckitt, Tyler Puckitt, Sara Bordages; and his beloved 18 great-grandchildren, who affectionately called him G-Paw, and numerous nieces and nephews. Donald was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Martha "Mert" Lee Puckitt; sisters; Sheddy McClelland, Lorene Sanders, Dorthy Hext, Audrey Morgan; sons, Brett and Bryan Puckitt; and granddaughter, Richelle Bumstead.

An intimate gathering for friends and family will be held at Broussard's, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee, on Thursday, July 31st at 2 pm. Donald and Mert's final resting place will be at Little Hope Cemetery in Jasper, TX.
